Our Super Sprocket Lessons Plans are aligned with our book series. Our lesson plans use the 5-E lesson plan format, which is an instructional model based on the constructivist approach to learning. With this approach, learners build new ideas on top of their old ideas. Each of the 5-E’s describes a phase of learning, and each phase begins with the letter “E”: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate. Students and teachers use and build on prior knowledge to assess their understanding of a concept.
